Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What color are the jerseys that Cooperstown All Star Village provides the Players?
A: Each player will receive two jerseys: a white home jersey and a navy blue away jersey. Both are part of the standard uniform package included with team registration. For a full list of what each player receives at check-in, see the next question.

Q: What shoes are acceptable to wear?
A: We are 100% a turf facility, we highly recommend turf shoes, no metal cleats but molded are acceptable.

Q: What is the list of items each player will get upon arrival at Cooperstown All Star Village?
A: Each player will receive: a Cooperstown All Star Village hat, a white home jersey and navy blue away jersey, a navy blue warm-up jacket, and two pairs socks (one red, and one navy pair). Players also have the option to upgrade their hat to a custom flex-fit version through our LeagueApps store at https://cooperstownallstarvillage.leagueapps.com/store?bid=4627257 — and if you upgrade, you keep both hats. Just note that during tournament play, all team members need to be wearing matching hats.

Q: Does Cooperstown All Star Village provide the players with pants?
A: No — Cooperstown All Star Village does not provide players with pants. Players are required to bring their own white baseball pants, and we strongly recommend bringing two pairs since you’ll be playing multiple games per day across the week. For complete uniform details and what’s included in the registration package, visit https://cooperstown.com/register/packages/

Q: What color and style can the pants be?
A: Cooperstown All Star Village requires that all player pants be white. Teams can have pants with piping, but the team must match. Length doesn’t matter, it is up to players preference. Belts we reccomend be navy or red (your team’s preference, as long as everyone matches). For complete laundry guidelines and what teams should know about our wash service, see the Team Laundry Guidelines at https://cooperstown.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Cooperstown-All-Star-Village-Laundry-Team-Guidelines.pdf.

Q: Can players request their numbers?
A: Player jersey numbers are assigned by size. View our Number Availability doc to learn more.

Q: Can players wear stirrup socks?
A: Yes, the players can wear stirrup socks.

Q: What is the Laundry Process?
A: Team Laundry Process

Q: What should we pack?
A: Cooperstown All Star Village Packing List

Q: Are players allowed to wear long-sleeve shirts, hoodies, or windbreakers under or over the jersey during games — and if so, are there color restrictions (especially for pitchers)?
A: Yes, players can absolutely wear long-sleeve shirts, hoodies, or windbreakers underneath their uniform for warmth or sun protection. The one rule is that the layer must be worn under the jersey (not over it), and any solid color is fine except white, since white can cause depth perception issues for batters tracking the ball. Pitchers especially should avoid anything white on the arms.

Q: Are the fields turf or grass — should players bring turf cleats, metal cleats, molded cleats, or all three?
A: As of the 2026 season, every single field at Cooperstown All Star Village is turf — so you can pack lighter than you might expect. We highly recommend turf cleats or athletic sneakers as the primary footwear. Molded cleats are permitted as well. Metal cleats are not allowed on any field, no exceptions.

Q: Are sliding shorts, compression gear, and undergarments included in the daily team laundry, or do those need to be hand-washed?
A: Yes — our Cooperstown All Star Village Laundry team handles all of the on-field gear for your player, so the daily turnaround is taken care of. That includes sliding shorts, compression gear, undergarments worn under the uniform, and chest protectors. What we don’t wash is anything worn off the field — regular day-to-day clothes, casual outfits, swimwear, etc. — so we recommend packing enough non-uniform clothing for the full week.

Q: Do all players on a team have to match exactly when layering (long sleeves under jerseys, etc.)?
A: Yes — when a team takes the field, the entire uniform needs to match across all players. When it comes to layering, not every player has to layer, but any players who do need to match each other: if some guys are wearing long sleeves under the jersey, those players all need to be in the same color long sleeves. Same goes for hats, socks, and accessories. It keeps the team looking sharp and avoids any uniform issues with umpires.

Q: How are jersey numbers and sizes assigned — when and how does the team submit the size/number list?
A: Here’s how jersey numbers and sizes work: when parents register their player on LeagueApps, you’ll input the jersey size at that point. From there, your coach assigns each player’s jersey number based on the size selected — so it’s a coach-driven step, not a parent-driven one. Numbers are tied to size availability, so we strongly recommend submitting accurate sizes at registration to give your coach the most flexibility. To see exactly which numbers are available in which sizes, refer to our Number Availability guide: https://cooperstown.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/CASV_NUMBER-AVAILABILITY_2026_V1-1.pdf.pdf

Q: Do the jerseys change year to year, or is the design consistent?
A: The official Cooperstown All Star Village jersey design stays consistent from year to year, so what your player wears in 2026 is the same look you’d see in past or future seasons. That consistency is part of what makes the Cooperstown All Star Village experience so iconic — players, alumni, and families recognize the jersey instantly. For everything that’s included in your tournament package, see our Tournament Packages page: https://cooperstown.com/register/packages/

Q: Do the jerseys change year to year, or is the design consistent?
A: During games, all players are required to wear the official Cooperstown All Star Village hat — either the standard or the fitted/upgraded version — and the entire team must match on the field. So if part of the team upgrades to the fitted hat, the whole team needs to be wearing the upgraded hat together. For details on the upgraded hat option and how to pre-order, visit our add-ons page: https://cooperstownallstarvillage.leagueapps.com/store?bid=4627257.

Q: What do the coaches receive as a uniform from Cooperstown All Star Village?
A: Coaches receive two short-sleeved shirts (one grey and one navy blue), a Cooperstown All Star Village hat, and a warm-up jacket. Many coaches also choose to upgrade to a custom flex-fit hat through our LeagueApps store at https://cooperstownallstarvillage.leagueapps.com/store?bid=4627257. During tournaments, if your players upgrade their hats, all players must match — but coaches are not required to. Coaches can wear the standard hat, the upgraded hat, any other Cooperstown All-Star Village hat, or no hat at all. They don’t have to match the team, though they’re encouraged to.

Q: Do the Coaches have to wear baseball pants?
A: No — coaches do not have to wear baseball pants. Coaches can wear whatever is comfortable for them to coach, including shorts. We just ask that whatever you wear be tournament-appropriate and consistent across your coaching staff so the team looks unified on the field.

Q: Do coaches have to wear the same hat as the players, or can coaches wear their own team hat?
A: Coaches are required to wear a Cooperstown All Star Village hat during games, but they don’t have to match the team. Coaches can wear the standard hat, the upgraded fitted hat, or any other Cooperstown All-Star Village hat — they’re encouraged to match the players, but it’s not required. Players, however, do need to match each other: if your team upgrades to the fitted hat, all players must wear it.

Q: If players upgrade to a premium hat, do coaches also receive that upgrade or stay on the standard hat?
A: If your team upgrades to the premium hat, coaches don’t automatically receive one — coaches purchase the upgraded hat separately as an add-on. Coaches aren’t required to match the team, though we encourage it so the entire on-field group looks unified. Coaches who choose not to upgrade can wear the standard Cooperstown All Star Village hat, any other Cooperstown All-Star Village hat, or no hat at all. Players, however, do need to match — if the team upgrades, all players must wear the upgraded hat.

Q: When can teams check in?
A: All teams that are participating in the Cooperstown All Star Village tournament are required to check in on Opening Day. All coaches are required to be part of the team check-in process between 9:00 am and 12:00 PM, and must bring a valid ID. The Player Village does not open until 12:00 PM on Opening Day. If teams have a conflicting travel schedule, it is imperative that the coach calls to alert staff of the delay. Please call 607-432-7483.

Q: Is there early check in for teams?
A: Cooperstown All Star Village will not allow early check in for teams. Each team is required to find other accommodations if they plan on arriving early. There is no early access to the bunkhouses, the fields or the restaurant. The Cooperstown All Star Village Gear Store is open daily.

Q: Where do the teams check in?
A: Coaches and Team administrators enter through the Player gate next to the Gift Shop after 9 am, and head down to Player Dining to check-in.

If you need directions, please go to the Information booth, next to The Clubhouse Restaurant, to inquire.

Q: When can people check in for All Star Lodging hotel rooms?
A: Hotel check-in is from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Opening Day. The hotel check-in will be at the information booth in front of The Clubhouse restaurant.

Q: What is the exact timeline of Day 1 (check-in window, jersey fitting, opening ceremonies, first game)?
A: Here’s a typical Day 1 timeline so your family can plan around it: coach check-in runs from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., bunkhouse move-in opens at 12:00 p.m. and closes promptly at 4:15 p.m. (the uniform exchange room also closes at 4:15 p.m. — no exchanges after that), the coaches’ meeting takes place at 3:30 p.m. at Player Dining, opening ceremonies begin at 5:30 p.m. with a t-shirt toss followed by the player march around 5:50 p.m., and skills competition finals start at 6:45 p.m. We highly recommend arriving on site well before 4:15 p.m. to give your family ample time to exchange uniforms and settle in. For the full play-by-play, see our Opening Day Guide.

Q: Do all players need to arrive at the same time as the coach for jersey fitting, or can they arrive throughout the check-in window?
A: Players don’t have an individual check-in process — the coach checks in the entire team on behalf of the players, so families can arrive on whatever schedule the coach asks the team to follow. All coaches must check in with a valid photo ID. Two important deadlines to keep in mind: bunkhouse move-in runs from 12:00 p.m. to 4:15 p.m., and the uniform exchange room closes promptly at 4:15 p.m. with no exchanges after that. We strongly recommend getting on site well before 4:15 p.m. so your family has ample time to handle uniform sizing, exchange anything that doesn’t fit, and settle in without feeling rushed. For the full Day 1 schedule, see our Opening Day Guide.

Q: If our coach is arriving later than the published check-in window, what should the team do?
A: All coaches are expected to arrive by 12:00 p.m. at the latest for check-in on Day 1 and check in with a valid photo ID — that gives the full team time to handle uniform exchanges, move into the bunkhouse, and prep for opening ceremonies. If something unexpected comes up and a coach absolutely cannot make it by noon, please have the coach reach out to [email protected] or call 607-432-7483 right away so we can help work out a plan.

Q: Where do players store their luggage between arrival and bunkhouse move-in?
A: There is no dedicated space for players to store their luggage between arrival and bunkhouse move-in. Players will need to keep luggage in their car until move-in begins at 12:00 p.m.

Q: Is there a recommended hotel for the night before check-in if our team is traveling from far away?
A: Yes — for families traveling from far away, we strongly recommend arriving the night before check-in so you’re rested and on-site early on Day 1 (and not stressing about a delayed flight or long drive). For partner hotels and a full breakdown of nearby on-site and off-site lodging options, see our Where to Stay guide, and for the closest airports and travel logistics, see our Getting to Cooperstown guide. Travel and accommodations questions can be sent to [email protected].

Q: What is the medication check-in process — what do parents bring, how is it stored, and who administers it?
A: Here’s how the medication check-in process works: at 12:00 p.m. on Day 1, when the bunkhouse area opens, parents bring all of their player’s medications to our medical staff at the medical center in Player Village — with two exceptions, EpiPens and inhalers, which the player keeps with them at all times. Our 24/7 on-site medical staff (EMTs and registered nurses) will store the medications securely and administer them on the prescribed schedule throughout the week. For everything you’ll need to prepare on the medical side (forms, deadlines, what to bring), see our Registration & Medical Guide. For questions about a specific medical situation, allergy plan, or accommodation, please reach out to [email protected].

Where do family members go and what can they do during the player check-in process?
A: To clarify, there’s no formal player check-in process on Day 1 — only a coach check-in. All coaches must check in with a valid photo ID. So family members are free to enjoy the property however they’d like: explore Cooperstown All Star Village’s restaurants, concession stands, food trucks, the gift shop, and more. From 12:00 p.m. to 4:15 p.m., family members are welcome to help their player move into the bunkhouse, but the bunkhouse area closes to families promptly at 4:15 p.m. and only players and coaches remain inside Player Village after that.

Q: What is the Tie Breaker System

    • When teams are tied
      •Record

Q: How many games does each team play?
A: Each team is guaranteed 7 games (WEATHER PERMITTING) 6 pool play games and 1 playoff game. The playoff bracket is single elimination.

Q: What happens when there is a rain delay?
A: Each coach is required to give their cell phone number upon arrival for the notification system. If there is inclement weather, Cooperstown All Star Village directors will make the call when games should stop playing due to safety concerns and field conditions. If a game is called due to weather conditions, each coach is required to have their device on them and stand by until further notice. The Cooperstown All Star Village baseball director will notify each coach through the notification system when the schedule will be moving forward. NOTE: It is the responsibility of the coaches to notify the players and their families of the new start times after a rain delay.

Q. What are the rules around the playing fields?
A. For security purposes: Only Players and Coaches with the mandated Cooperstown All Star Village wristbands are allowed in the dugouts. If someone is caught in the player and coach dugout without the wristband on, they will be removed from the dugout by Cooperstown All Star Village staff. Parents and spectators have separate seating away from the players and coach’s dugout. Each spectator dugout is covered and equipped with seating. No spectators will be allowed on the field of play at any time.

There is NO FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY during gameplay. Spectators are allowed to bring their own photography equipment. AT NO TIME is any equipment allowed to hang from the fencing of any of the fields.

There is no outside food, beverages, or coolers allowed down by the fields. (Only coolers with water are allowed)
Coaches are responsible for the actions of their players and fans. Cooperstown All Star Village policy is to cheer on both teams.
Cooperstown All Star Village does not allow any horns or other noise makers on the property.

Q: When will playing schedules be posted?
A: The weekly game schedule will be released 10 days before your Opening Day.

You can find the schedule via email or LeagueApps.

Q: When will the playoff schedule be posted?
After pool play concludes, the playoff schedule will be released through LeagueApps and is updated with seeding and the bracket. Coaches have one hour to visit baseball operations and discuss any discrepancies with a director. After this period, the bracket becomes final.

The playoff bracket is determined by seeding based on the results of pool play games. In case of ties, the following Tiebreaker System is used:
  1. Record
  2. Runs Against
  3. Head-to-Head (if applicable)
  4. Runs Scored

Q: What is the bracket format?

View the bracket format HERE

Q: What are the field dimensions at Cooperstown All Star Village?

A: All 12 of our fields are designed to 12U standards, with field dimensions of a 50-foot pitching distance, 70-foot base paths, 8-foot-high outfield fences, and 200-foot fences. Every field is turf, and the dimensions are consistent across the campus so teams can prepare with confidence. For complete on-field rules and tournament play details, see the Cooperstown 2026 In-Game Rules: https://cooperstown.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/CASV-2026-Rules-PDF-revised.pdf.

Q: What are the age requirements for players at Cooperstown All Star Village?

A: Cooperstown All Star Village is a 12U baseball complex, and players must be 12U eligible — meaning they cannot turn 13 before May 1st of the tournament year they’re attending. Two Grade Exemptions are allowed per team for players who turn 13 between January 1 and April 30, provided they are in the correct grade. For complete age verification details, the official age cutoff document, and grade exemption guidelines, visit our registration page at https://cooperstown.com/register/schedule/ or reach out to [email protected].

Q: What is the typical daily game cadence (one game per day, two games then a rest day, etc.) — what does a normal week look like?

A: Here’s what a typical week of games looks like at Cooperstown All Star Village: pool play runs Days 2 through 4, with two games per day for every team — that gives players plenty of reps and gives families a predictable schedule to plan around. Days 5 and 6 are bracket play, so the schedule varies depending on how your team advances. The week wraps with the Championship game at 6:30 p.m. on Day 6. For the full daily itinerary, and for live game schedules and field assignments throughout the week, families should check LeagueApps.

Q: Are there game time limits or pitch counts, and how do they work?

Cooperstown All Star Village does not impose game time limits or league-mandated pitch counts at the tournament level. Coaches are responsible for monitoring pitch counts and managing their pitchers’ workloads throughout the week — most coaches use their home league’s pitch count guidelines as a baseline.

Q: If games are interrupted by weather, how are makeup games scheduled — and how are families notified?

Our Baseball Operations staff monitors weather and field conditions continuously throughout the week, and we use a strict lightning policy to keep players and spectators safe. If a game is delayed, paused, or rescheduled due to weather, all updates are communicated in real time through LeagueApps — both via email and SMS — so the fastest way to stay informed is to make sure your LeagueApps notifications are turned on. For our full lightning protocol, see the Cooperstown 2026 Lightning Policy: https://cooperstown.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/24-16-GD-CASV-Lightning-Policy-1.pdf.pdf.

Q: Where is the official source for live schedule updates and field assignments during the week?

LeagueApps is the official, real-time source for all schedule updates, field assignments, and any in-week changes — so we recommend that every parent and coach has the LeagueApps app installed with notifications enabled before arriving on site. We also send schedule communications via email and SMS through LeagueApps. For game results and standings throughout the week, see our Scores & Results page: https://cooperstown.com/experience/scores-results/.

Q: Are games livestreamed by Cooperstown All Star Village, and if not, are families allowed to use their own streaming setup (GameChanger, etc.)?

Yes — every game at Cooperstown All Star Village is livestreamed by our official streaming partner, Pixellot, so grandparents and family members back home can watch every pitch. To learn about Pixellot livestreaming packages and how to subscribe, visit https://live.cooperstown.com/. Families on-site are also welcome to set up their own livestream from off the field — but please note that all camera setups must be minimalist (handheld or on a small standing tripod off to the side). Mounting any phone, tripod, or camera to the fence is not permitted under any circumstance for safety reasons.

Q: Are players allowed to use walk-up music? Are speakers permitted on or near the fields?

Yes — players are welcome to bring walk-up music and teams are welcome to bring portable speakers. Two ground rules: the volume needs to stay at a level that doesn’t disrupt your own game or any games on neighboring fields, and the music must be appropriate (no explicit lyrics). Cooperstown All Star Village staff may ask teams to lower volume if it’s affecting nearby fields.

Q: Is music allowed between innings or during warm-ups?

Yes — between-innings music and warm-up music are both permitted under the same guidelines as walk-up music: appropriate content (no explicit lyrics) and a volume that doesn’t disrupt your own game or any neighboring games. Note that during games, music selection is at the team’s discretion; during the Championship game of the Gold bracket, Cooperstown All Star Village handles all music.

Q: Does Cooperstown play in between inning music and walk up music?

Cooperstown All Star Village only plays between-innings music and walk-up music during the Championship game of the Gold bracket — that’s the one game where our staff controls all music selection to give it that “big game” atmosphere. For every other game during the week, music is up to the team to handle.

Q: What are the bunkhouses like?
A: Cooperstown All Star Village bunkhouses include the following: A smart flat screen TV with cable, three full sized beds for the coaches, and twin sized beds (bunks) for the players, air conditioning, garbage can, a large storage bin outside the bunks to keep personal items safe (padlock not included).

Q: Where can we place our valuables?
A: There are two (2) lockable bins in each bunkhouse for your use. Please provide your own locks.

Q: Do the players and coaches have to bring bedding?
A: Yes, the players and coaches must bring their own bedding. The players will need twin size bedding and coaches need full size bedding. Some players opt for sleeping bags instead of bedding. Please bring your own pillows as well. There are stores in the area that carry these items should you forget or not want to travel with them.

Q: How many players and coaches can stay in the bunkhouses?
A: The bunkhouses at Cooperstown All Star Village hold 16-20 total participants.

Q: Where do female players stay when they attend Cooperstown All Star Village?

A: We have separate accommodations in Player Village for female players. Please reach out to [email protected] or your team coordinator if  you have any additional questions.

Q: What does the bedding package include, what is the cost, and is the bedding kept by the player or returned at the end of the week?
A: the bunkhouse accommodation package is one of the most popular pre-orders. Each package includes a fitted sheet, a flat sheet, a pillow with a Cooperstown All Star Village pillowcase, a blanket, a team cooler, and one box fan. The cost is $600 for the entire team — one purchase covers everyone, so individual players don’t need to buy their own. The package is a rental and must be returned at the end of the week. To order, visit https://cooperstownallstarvillage.leagueapps.com/store?bid=4627257 or email [email protected].

Q: Do the bunkhouses have air conditioning? If not, what kind of fans are allowed, and where is power available?
A: Yes, every bunkhouse is air-conditioned. That said, we still recommend bringing a fan or two — they help circulate air throughout the space and most teams find the airflow makes a noticeable difference, especially during warmer weeks. Power outlets are available in every bunkhouse, so plug-in fans work great. (One box fan also comes with the team’s bedding package — see the bedding question above.)

Q: Are blackout curtains, light-blocking covers, or window coverings allowed in the bunkhouse windows?
A: For the most up-to-date guidance on window coverings inside the bunkhouses, please reach out to our Health & Safety team at [email protected] and they’ll get you a definitive answer.

Q: What is the bunkhouse bathroom and shower setup — are showers private, semi-private, or open-bay?
A: The player bunkhouses have an open-bay bathroom layout with shared shower facilities. Coaches have their own private showers. We recommend players bring shower shoes/flip-flops, a quick-dry towel (towels aren’t provided — see below), and a small toiletry caddy to make the daily routine easier.

Q: Are towels provided, or should players pack their own?
A: Towels are not provided, so players and coaches will need to pack their own. We recommend at least two. Quick-dry microfiber towels work especially well in the bunkhouse environment.

Q: Is there WiFi in the bunkhouses, and how reliable is cell service on property?
A: Yes, WiFi is available in all of the bunkhouses, and cell service across the property is reliable on T-Mobile, Verizon, and AT&T. Most families and players are able to stay in touch throughout the week without issue.

Q: Are players allowed to keep snacks, drinks, or coolers in the bunkhouse?
A: Per Cooperstown All Star Village’s Health and Safety guidelines, food and drinks are not allowed in the bunkhouses — water is the only exception. This policy keeps the bunkhouses clean and pest-free for everyone. Players will have full access to meals and snacks at Player Dining, which is open early morning through late evening throughout the week.

Q: How much storage space is under each bunk, and what size suitcase or duffle fits?
A: There is storage space underneath each bunk for a standard-size suitcase or large duffle bag. We recommend players pack in a soft-sided duffle (rather than a hard-shell suitcase) since duffles compress and fit more flexibly under the bunks. A medium-to-large duffle is the most common choice.

Q: How do families pick up or drop off something to a player in the bunkhouse during the week — is the area secured?
A: Yes, Player Village is a secured area, which is why drop-offs and pickups are coordinated through coaches. The easiest option is to bring items to a game and hand them to your player there. If something can’t wait, contact your team’s coach and the player can meet you outside Player Village with coach supervision. This protects every player on property and keeps the bunkhouses secure.

Q: What happens if a player gets sick or homesick mid-week — is there a process to leave the bunkhouse, and what role does the family play?
A: Yes, all players must be signed out by their parents from Player Village with coach supervision. This can be done at the top of the hill above the players village entrance going through the security booth.

Q: How can I apply to work at Cooperstown All Star Village?
A: Please click here to apply to our open positions

Q: How old do I have to be to work at Cooperstown All Star Village?
A: To work at Cooperstown All Star Village, you must be at least 15 years old. We also have some limited roles for 14-year-olds as long as the student provides a clearance from their school.

Q: Can I get internship credit for working at Cooperstown All Star Village?
A: We may be able to offer internship credits, please apply for more details.

Q: When are Opening Ceremonies?
A: Opening Ceremonies are Opening Day at 5:30 p.m. (weather permitting) located on field #5. Players must wear their BLUE COOPERSTOWN JERSEYS AND COOPERSTOWN HATS.

Q: What happens during the Spirit Competition?

A: When teams are announced parents and families will cheer for their team. Costumes, Noise Makers (Only during Opening Ceremony, not allowed during Game Play), Powered Smoke & Bubbles are fine! Please note, throwing objects into or from the stands, confetti, and streamers are not allowed.

Q: When do skills competitions start?
A: The Skills Competitions qualifiers will take place throughout the day from 10:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. The final round of the Skills Competition will immediately follow Opening Ceremonies.

Q: What are the skills competitions?
A: The skills competitions at Cooperstown All Star Village has teams participating in the Fastest Player, Double Play Relay, and Home Run Derby.

Q: What time do opening ceremonies begin, and how should families plan around that on Day 1?
A: Opening ceremonies kick off at 5:30 PM and are one of the most memorable nights of the week. Here’s how the evening typically flows: we start with a T-shirt toss, then honor our veterans and first responders. The player march around the village begins around 5:50 PM and wraps up around 6:30 PM, followed by the national anthem(s). The Skills Competition finals start at 6:45 PM. Families will want to plan dinner and arrival around the 5:30 PM start. For the full Day 1 schedule, check out our Opening Day Guide: https://cooperstown.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/2026-Openidng-Day-Guide.pdf.

Q: Do teams sign up for a specific Skills Competition time slot, or do they go on a first-come basis?
A: Skills Competitions run on a first-come, first-served basis — there are no pre-assigned time slots. Players need to report in their blue jersey, and the latest report time is 2:30 PM, since competitions wrap up at 3:00 PM sharp. Coaches decide which players participate in which events, so check in with your coach ahead of the day to know what to expect. Finalists are notified in the coaches’ meeting on Day 1.

Q: What equipment do players need to bring to the Skills Competition (catcher’s gear, glove, bat for the home run derby, etc.)?
A: For the Skills Competition, players need to bring a helmet and bat for the Home Run Derby, plus a glove for the Turn Two competition. (Note: there is no relay event.) We recommend labeling all gear with the player’s name to prevent mix-ups during the busy competition.

Q: Are opening ceremonies livestreamed for grandparents and family members who can’t travel?
A: Yes! Opening ceremonies are live-streamed through Pixellot, and the stream is free — so grandparents, extended family, and anyone who can’t make the trip can tune in at no cost. While the opening ceremony stream is free, the rest of the week’s games are available for purchase as a live stream at the same Pixellot link. We’ll share the live-stream link on https://live.cooperstown.com/ and on our Facebook page closer to your week.

Q: How is the Spirit Competition scored, and what tends to win in past years?
A: The Spirit Competition is judged by our staff, who walk the village and pick the most spirited team fanbase based on energy, creativity, and overall enthusiasm. Past winners have stood out with coordinated team colors, custom signs and banners, themed cheers, and lots of noise (cowbells, thundersticks, etc.). A few important rules: no confetti, no streamers, and no items thrown into the crowd or onto the field — these create cleanup and safety issues. Also note that noise makers are only allowed during opening ceremonies — they are not permitted during gameplay the rest of the week. Bring the energy, leave the mess at home!

Q: Where do families sit or stand for opening ceremonies and the parade — is there reserved spectator space per team?
A: Field 5 has a natural amphitheater layout where everyone gathers for opening ceremonies — it’s a beautiful spot. Spectator space is first-come, first-served — there is no reserved seating per team. We recommend arriving early to grab a good viewing spot, especially if you want to be near the front for the player march. Bring a stadium chair or blanket if you’d like extra comfort.

Q: Are smoke sticks, sparklers, or pyrotechnic items permitted for the parade or opening ceremonies? If so, where can teams buy them or do they need to bring them?
A: Smoke sticks and small handheld pyrotechnic items are permitted for the parade and opening ceremonies — please be extra cautious, mindful of children and elderly spectators around you, and respectful of the space. Q: What about team coolers — what’s allowed?
A: Team coolers filled only with ice and bottled water are allowed in the dugouts and the Player Village. No other food or drinks are permitted in team coolers. Each team receives an ice card good for 10 free bags of ice for their team cooler. We also have hydration stations throughout the park where anyone can refill reusable water bottles throughout the week.

Q: Are gum, sunflower seeds, or grilling allowed on campus?
A: No — gum and sunflower seeds are not allowed on-site, and no grilling or cookouts are permitted at any time on campus. These rules keep the fields, dugouts, and Player Village clean and safe for everyone. For complete on-campus rules and policies, visit https://cooperstown.com/about/rules-and-policies/.

Q: What if I have special dietary needs?
A: If you have special dietary needs, please see the hostess at our on-site restaurant for a list of food we serve to accommodate your needs — our Food & Beverage team works hard to make sure every player and family member is taken care of. We also strongly recommend emailing [email protected] or [email protected] ahead of your week with the player’s name, team, and specific dietary needs (nut, gluten, dairy, vegetarian, or eating-disorder-related accommodations) so we can prepare in advance.

Q: Can spectators bring outside food, drinks, or snacks into the park to the field areas?
A: No, outside food, drinks, and snacks are not permitted in the field areas. We have a full range of concessions on property, including hot food, snacks, beverages, and coffee throughout the day. This policy keeps the fields clean and supports our on-site food operations. Bottled water is allowed for personal hydration.

Q: Are coolers allowed at the fields, and if so, what size limit applies?
A: No, coolers are not allowed at the fields — for any size. We do offer concessions throughout the property with cold drinks, snacks, and full meals readily available. If you need ice for any reason, ask at the concessions stand. Teams: see the team-cooler ice card information below.

Q: Are players allowed to bring their own snacks and drinks into the bunkhouse?
A: No — outside snacks and drinks are not permitted in the bunkhouses. Water is the only exception. This policy keeps the bunkhouses clean and pest-free for everyone. Players have full access to meals and snacks at Player Dining throughout the week (hours below).

Q: How does the meal plan work for players and coaches — what is included, when are meals served, and what are the menu options?
A: Player Dining provides breakfast, lunch, and dinner throughout the week — players and coaches will never need to leave property for meals. Hours are: Day 1: 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM (dinner only, after check-in); Days 2–5: 6:00 AM – 10:00 PM (full breakfast, lunch, dinner service); Day 6: 6:00 AM – 7:00 PM (final dining day). The 2026 menu is still being finalized — we’ll post the full menu on https://cooperstown.com/experience/where-to-dine/ once it’s locked in. For dietary restrictions and allergies, see the next question.

Please email [email protected] or [email protected] ahead of your week with the player’s name, team, and specific dietary needs. Our Food & Beverage team will reach out directly to walk through how we’ll handle meals on-site. The earlier we know, the better we can prepare.

A: Ice is not provided for individual family coolers. However, every team receives an ice card good for 10 free bags of ice for their team cooler — please note that team coolers may only contain water. If you need additional ice during the week, it’s available at concessions.

Q: Does Cooperstown All Star Village have a travel concierge?
A: Yes! Cooperstown All Star Village has a dedicated on-site Travel Concierge Manager ready to help you book with one of our hotel and vacation partners at the lowest available rates. Whether you’re looking for an on-site room at the All Star Village Hotel, a partner hotel nearby, or a family rental for the whole crew, our concierge team can walk you through the options and help you find the right fit. Reach out to our travel concierge at [email protected] or call 607-432-7483 to reserve your accommodations today.

Q: What lodging options does Cooperstown All Star Village offer on-site?
A: Cooperstown All Star Village offers limited on-site lodging through the All Star Village Hotel, located right on the property. Hotel rooms are walking distance to the fields, the bunkhouses, and Player Dining — making it the most convenient option for families who want to stay close to the action. Availability is limited, especially for peak summer weeks, so we recommend booking on-site rooms as early as possible after your team confirms its week. For full details and to check availability, visit our Where to Stay guide at https://cooperstown.com/plan/where-to-stay/. Travel and accommodations questions? Reach out to our travel concierge at [email protected] or call 607-432-7483.

Q: How close are the on-site rooms to the fields and bunkhouses, and is the area gated or secured?
A: Our on-site rooms are about a two-minute walk from the bunkhouses — couldn’t be more convenient. For security reasons, only players and coaches are allowed inside Player Village, with one exception: parents helping during Move-In Day from 12:00 PM to 4:15 PM. If families want to spend time with their player during the week, they must sign them out through the main security booth near Player Dining. The whole property is gated and secured 24/7.

Q: If we are staying in the on-site hotel, can our player visit our room during downtime, and what is the sign-out process?
A: Yes! Players can absolutely visit family in the on-site hotel room during downtime — many families love the convenience of having their player nearby. The sign-out process: bring the player to the main security booth near Player Dining, where a parent signs them out. When it’s time to return, the parent signs them back in and a coach walks them to the bunkhouse. This keeps every player accounted for and supervised.

Q: How early should families book lodging for the following summer?
A: Earlier than you’d think! The best off-site lodging — especially Airbnb/VRBO rentals and the limited boutique hotels in Cooperstown proper — books up 9–12 months in advance for peak weeks (mid-June through early August). We recommend locking in your stay as soon as your team confirms its week, ideally by the previous fall. Last-minute bookings are possible but choices narrow significantly and prices climb.
